Traveling for Memorial Day? 5 Tips To Make It The Best Trip Ever!

The unofficial start to summer is coming up! Here are some tips to make your road trip memorable and fun!

1. Honor the holiday.

Take time to visit a veteran, attend a memorial service or show up at a parade that is in honor of those who bravely gave their lives. These kinds of activities make lifelong memories and can be a great family tradition each year. Plan ahead to see what’s on the calendar at your favorite destination.

2. Have a rainy day plan!

I cannot remember one Memorial Day weekend that was rain-free. Here in Michigan, it might be the unofficial start to summer but there was always at least one storm that blows through. I like to keep my family happy with WiFi during the stormy days! It’s easy for our family to stay connected on the go with millions of free Xfinity WiFi hotspots nationwide. I only had to sign in once and Xfinity automatically remembers my device wherever connect. Xfinity WiFi hotspots are included with my Xfinity Internet service a no extra cost! I LOVE saving. No more spotty hotel WiFi for my family!

3. Download the Xfinity Stream app.

Have your favorites available at your fingertips on all your devices wherever you are! Only Xfinity gives you the most free TV shows and movies on the go with Xfinity Stream app, included with any Xfinity TV service. Get your entire TV line-up at home and top networks and live sports on the go, plus thousands of Xfinity On Demand movies and shows, and your DVR library anytime, anywhere. Don’t forget there’s information so you can plan on upcoming available event streaming. I have a couple of family members that will be overjoyed that they can watch the Indy 500!!

4. Pack some sunscreen and then pack some more.

If there’s one thing I forget to pack for every summer road trip, it’s the sunscreen. Even when it’s cloudy, generously applying it to everyone will make sure that no one spends the night miserable or the next day totally inside. Don’t forget to reapply during the day too! One application throughout the whole day is NOT enough. Ask me how I know…

5. Get your vehicle ready for the long haul.

Have a professional check the tire pressure (don’t forget to check the spare too) and change the oil if it’s time, maybe even check the brakes too. It’s not a road trip without a car and nobody wants to sit on the side of the road and wait hours for a tow truck for things that could have been taken care of before you left. It’s not a bad idea to throw in a first aid kit, you never know when you might need it.

Where are you going this Memorial Day?
