When I get an opportunity to experience a movie like Interstellar through a partnership with Paramount Pictures, I HAVE to take the leap. They compensated me for the post but not for my love of space, the movie or Matthew McConaughey.
Around here we are space obsessed lately! I don’t know if it’s because my kids are older and can grasp some of the concepts more or because we are TOTALLY STOKED to see INTERSTELLAR together!!! Finally a movie that we can all enjoy!! (See below for some fabulous space activities we did while we wait for Interstellar to arrive in theaters! I’m sure your teens will love them as much as mine did!)
With an all star cast of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Bill Irwin and Ellen Burstyn, we know we won’t be disappointed. (DID SOMEONE SAY MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY??!)
Do you have tickets yet?
The movie has an amazing and have everyone on the edge of your seat plot. Check it out: With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history; traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. When I was checking out the trailer, I was utterly amazed at the wall of water which they first thought to be mountains. WHOA! When I showed my family, they had the same reaction and more! We watched every trailer available and my son keeps watching them every day. Space obsessed doesn’t even cover it.
We had to find out more! We have been doing so many spaced themed activities waiting for the release date! I swear it just gets them more excited though. Below you’ll find some of our favorites!
10 AMAZING SPACE ACTIVITIES TO DO WITH TEENS
Go outside and look at the stars on a clear night. There are tons of apps that will help you identify the constellations. Before you download one. See how many you can do on your own!
Make some astronaut food. Anything that involves eating will get the kids excited! Here’s a fun search I did on Pinterest.
Visit a planetarium.
Make a model of the solar system.
Make a real life constellation! Use some string and beads to re-create one of the constellations.
Whew! That’s a lot of space themed activities for our kids!! Now how am I going to talk my son out of a space themed bedroom?
