How To Make Glitter Frame Photo Ornaments

I AM SO EXCITED!! IT’S TIME TO GLITTER “ALL THE THINGS!” Today we’re getting up to our elbows in glitter making these sparkly ornaments for our Christmas tree. We have literally stopped buying ornaments the last couple of years because these are so special and easy to make. Grab your glue gun and let’s get crafting!

Gather some supplies. You’ll need large craft sticks, a glue gun with a glue stick in it, some GLITTER of course, a bottle of glue, spray adhesive, ribbon or sparkly pipe cleaners and whatever optional accessories you want to add. We used decorated tape this time but I can totally see sequins, buttons, mosaic tiles or anything that you love. OH AND LOTS AND LOTS OF PHOTOS to put in the frames after you’re finished decorating.

Now that you’ve gathered your supplies, you’ll want to put together the actual frame. These can be made way ahead of time so that your little decorators don’t have to wait to get GLITTER-ING. first cover your work area with newspaper or some other protective covering so that clean up is a snap. Next, you’ll want to rough measure how far apart you need to glue your crafts sticks depending on the size of your photos. Square ones will require less space than traditional 4 x 6’s. Squeeze some dots of glue from your glue gun to the top of two sticks and place a third stick over them and press. Hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute to make sure it’s going to hold. Repeat this process with the fourth craft stick. Voila! Instant photo frame. This part of the frame building needs to be done by an adult. That glue gun gets really HOT.

Now that you’ve made the frame it’s time to start decorating. I love a glue bottle with a brush. It makes covering the craft stick so much faster and easier. Then BRING OUT THE GLITTER. Sprinkle it generously all over your frame and let it dry. Once its dry a shot of spray adhesive makes them really durable and long lasting.

And now you have a complete frame!! Finish it off with your favorite family photo! Idea inspiration: maybe you could make some skinny ones for Instagram photostrips like we made here. A collage one would be awesome as well. That’s the kind we’re making next!

Finally, add some ribbon or a sparkly pipe cleaner for a hanger and you’re set!

Love love love this one with a picture of sibling togetherness. I can’t believe how much time flies. I’m glad I’ll be able to keep this memory in my heart and on my tree for years to come.

How about a family one? This was my son’s pick because he thought his dad’s face was funny. Now he’ll remember that moment forever.

Even the family dog needs to be sparkled up and hung on the tree! Only in a photo frame though. LOL.

You can get them tons of places-Walmart, Michaels, even the grocery store sometimes! I hope you have fun making them!
