I often go to the cabinet and see a plethora of cereal boxes only to discover none of them has enough left to feed everyone breakfast. I shake this one and that one hoping that I don’t hear that familiar rattle. I head off to the store to restock but what to do with the leftovers? Make some delicious recipes, that’s what!
We are proponents of using all of our resources to value what we have. We, however, make sure that everyone knows that that doesn’t mean we skimp on taste or goodness. I think his face and the sparkle in his eye proves that the bottom of the box is just as yummy.
When we picked up our box of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes it felt pretty light. Somehow, they manage to disappear quite quickly. There wasn’t enough for everyone to have breakfast but we had four hungry people. Luckily we came across a recipe for some berry almond bars. We made enough for all of us and spent some time together making something we could all enjoy. The recipe was easy enough that the kids could practically do everything themselves. Take a look at how they turned out!
And these bottom of the box recipes aren’t only for breakfast, my friends! They make delightful dinners and more too!
Occasionally, it seems that our box of Kellogg’s corn flakes also finds itself with only a tiny bit left. It’s my husband’s biggest annoyance. He would rather have you just eat it all than leave that small amount in the box. I used it for a new awesome recipe and now that he tasted the Chik’n Nuggets Noodle casserole, he didn’t even remember why he was annoyed any more. He was happy, the kids were happy and we can’t wait for the box to get almost empty again. If they think that’s good wait until they taste the Hearty Meatball Vegetable soup! It’s all about perspective, right?!
