Carol sits surrounded by friends and laughter with the most beautiful two tier birthday cake illuminated by several dozen candles. Tears well up in her eyes as she takes a deep breath to make a wish. At that very moment she realizes that there is no need for a birthday wish for her this year. Just being able to eat cake with her friends is the best present she could have ever received. She makes a wish anyway in hopes that other cancer patients could have another chance to celebrate their birthdays with their friends and family too.
This is the hope of the American Cancer Society as well. They consider every birthday a victory; another year that cancer has not won. This year 11 million cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday thanks in part to their work. The American Cancer Society is dedicated to creating a world with MORE birthdays and LESS cancer.
They do this by preventing and finding cancer early, by being there for patients during diagnosis, by investing in finding cures and by rallying lawmakers and communities to join them. For more information or if you need help you can call 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
Won’t you join in with the other three million volunteers banding together to create more birthdays in your community this year?
