We’re Taking The Family On The Road #GoodNeighbor

This discussion is part of a sponsored program by State Farm and Mode Media.

When I was a kid, we didn’t do a lot of traveling. Sure we moved a few times, even to new states but it was all business and not a lot of outdoor experiences.  When we had kids, we knew we wanted things to be different for them. We wanted them to see wide open spaces, really get out in nature and feel the freedom of visiting new places. Every time we travel, we are amazed at how much they take in. From the Great Smoky Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico, they revel in the beauty, the wildlife and they develop so much appreciation for all nature has to offer.

I have my in-laws to thank for sharing their love of travel with us. As they approached retirement, they discussed with us their plans to live both here in Michigan and to live in the south in the winters. They are avid golfers so they were looking forward to hitting the links all year round as part of their new lifestyle. They talked about some of the options they were considering and had finally decided to purchase an RV. When they showed it to us, I immediately fell in love with it! I knew this was something I wanted to do with my family NOW, while my kids were still young. We looked forward to spending mornings on the lake and afternoons fishing together!

They were so forthcoming with the information. They talked with us about prices, maintenance, choosing resorts, making sure we had adequate insurance and so much more. I was surprised when they talked about winterizing it. I didn’t realize how much damage could be done by a little bit of water during the cold winter months. On top of that, they let us borrow it for a couple trips we took in the beginning!! Just to make sure this was the way we wanted to travel with our family. Without their help and experience, it would have been a much more difficult journey. How awesome is that?!

We’re hitting the road! They helped us when we were buying our first home and our home away from home too!  When we finally purchased our own RV, we were totally informed. We felt excited! We felt lucky. Most of all, we felt grateful for all the help and confidence in our decisions our in-laws gave us. All of that led us to this amazing opportunity! We are excited to be venturing out as a family and enjoying many more smiles like this!

Like our in-laws, State Farm has always been there for us. We are life-long customers and our awesome agent has always been there to provide advice, help and answer all the questions we have when we are approaching new adventures. With State Farm on our side we can hit the road confident that we are protected and that they will be there if we need ANYTHING!
