It’s getting cooler outside, and it won’t be long before kids everywhere are lying on the sofa saying “Mooommmmm!!! I’m bored!!!’’. Thankfully for moms, there are some cool new indoor toys to keep them busy on cold, wet, and snowy days! These toys are appropriate for indoor use, but at the same time, promote activity. No couch potatoes allowed!
The first is ZipStix. Lock, Load and Launch – These little stunt toys look like skateboards, and kids just curl them back and release to launch like a runaway wheel. They can race them against each other, try to knock things down with them (hopefully not the pictures on the walls!) and even collect and trade them. There are 4 “teams” – Team Turbo, Team Zilla, Team Blaster, and Team Wild, each with different designs. Way better than trading cards!
There are 72 high-octane Zipstix designs in series 1, and you can get them in different quantities to fit any budget. They come in a Starter Pack (1 ZipStix and 1 Launcher), Dual Pack (2 ZipStix, 1 Launcher and 3 Crash Cones), Stunt Pack (2 ZipStix, 2 Launchers, 3 Crash Cones and 1 Kicker Ramp), and Mega Pack (6 ZipStix, 2 Launchers, 6 Crash Cones, 1 Kicker Ramp and 1 Quarter Pipe Ramp) Priced at $3.99- $19.99, they’ll fit into any budget and are appropriate for just about everyone – recommended for ages 4+. I have a feeling you’ll like them as much as the kids! Prepare to zip the competition!
The next one is the Atomic Shield Popper, which was named to the Toy Insider Must-Have Spring & Summer List. Basically, it’s a shield that fires! (Where was this when I was a kid?) Kids will have a blast hiding and aiming at each other. Bonus for parents – the foam balls won’t break windows and don’t hurt if you get hit.
I love this video demonstration!! Check it out!!
This is how it works. You hold up the shield, pull the foam hammer back, and let go. The gravity-fed auto-loading system fires the ball right through the shield. So simple, but so much fun! Incoming attacks by others are blocked by the shield. Don’t worry about losing the balls – the Shield Popper comes with 6 of them for $19.99, and it’s also recommended for ages 4+, so little kids and big kids can all join in – moms and dads too!. You’ll want to get at least 2 of them so you can return fire.
The Atomic Shield Popper does promote a little more running around than the ZipStix, so you’d want it to be used in a room with some space. On a nice day, they can both be used outside.
Are you ready for cold weather and bored kids? What toys do your kids like to play with on snow days?
