When I was little, I can remember sitting in the back of my uncle’s station wagon and being in awe as I traveled down the interstate. As I passed over each bridge and watched over the horizon for the familiar skyline of buildings, my anticipation kept rising. I could hardly wait to get to “the city.” It always seemed like each time was the first time. Chicago was the place that had EVERYTHING to my 9 year old self. It still has all that and more now that I’m an adult. There are so many reasons I #LoveThisCity.
The views are just amazing around every corner. The buildings are every shape and height you can imagine. The added visual of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River make it just that much more magical. I have to take pictures of my surroundings every time I am out and about.
I can not get enough of the delicious food Chicago offers. I have been all across the United States and the food in Chicago is the best!! I didn’t even show you Chicago style pizza or the chips and salsa that I dream about every day. I apologize if you are hungry now.
If you want an unparalleled shopping experience you have to come to Chicago. My favorite times to hit the stores is in the spring, around the holidays and well, practically anytime I feel the need for some retail therapy. The selection and quality is more than I could ever ask for.
If you are a sports fanatic like me, you will love all that Chicago has to offer. Of course I’ll recommend that you head over to Wrigley field for the Cubs but there are many other choices for venues. You might like to see the White Sox, the Bulls shoot some hoops or The Blackhawks play hockey. Heck, if your anything like me you’ll make time for some roller derby. Seeing the all female, Windy City Rollers, is an experience that I have no words to express the awesomeness of it.
For fantastic networking and business opportunities, Chicago is a HUB of activity. From trade shows (like the Chicago Auto Show) to conferences and business clubs to seminars, Chicago has so much to offer. My favorite conference, BlogHer 2013 was held here this year. I thought that was a pretty big deal!!
I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the fabulous things that there are to do whether you work, live or just play in Chicago. Be sure to check out Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, The Science and Industry Museum and Millennium Park (the art contained here is super and you HAVE to see the Bean,) for a short list of must sees. I can’t wait to share more of the Chicago love with you in the future because I just have so many more things to talk about! Also, be sure to check out my Google+ Album for more photos and a larger view!
What is your favorite thing about Chicago? Have you ever visited?
