December Wines From The California Wine Club + A Giveaway

Hello my wine loving friends!! This month I’m back checking out the awesomeness that is The California Wine Club and I’m excited to share it with you!! December’s wines include a selection from Daniel Gehrs Wines. The 2009 Central Coast Merlot and the 2011 Santa Barbara county White Hills Vineyard Chenin Blanc are absolutely FABULOUS!!

We know that great wine is for sharing so we planned a little holiday get-together with our favorite friends to enjoy this month’s selections.  The menu included an amazing selection of prime rib bites, chicken salad and an array of delicious desserts. The wine got the conversation going and people couldn’t stop declaring that the wine was some of the best they had ever tasted. We all agreed that two bottles was simply not enough. We are planning on having another event soon and to my delight, I will be in charge of bringing the wine!! I am so grateful that the California Wine Club is a hit with my friends and now they think I’m an EXPERT!!

More about this month’s wines:

The Central Coast Merlot is described by Dan as dustiness, tanned leather and earthiness add complexity to the lush signature of black cherry fruit. Tannins are smooth, lending backbone and a long finish. The final blend was 96% Merlot, 4% Malbec, and Cabernet Franc adding cranberry and blueberry respectively to the nose.

The 2011 is described as aromas of plums, wild flowers, and clover honey lead to a fruity palette of ripe Barlett pear and melon flavors. The finish is crisp and zesty.
