Chocolate Striped Grape and Yogurt-cicles #GrapesfromCA

California Grapes! There’s green ones, red ones, black ones  and there all delectable!! On a hot summer day there’s nothing like a refreshing, fruity, good-for-you snack!  This one’s easy enough for older kids to help and its absolutely delicious without the guilt!

I was challenged to make a healthy snack recipe. When I think snacks, I love something portable. For that reason, I love snacks on a stick. When I came up with these yogurt-cicles, I couldn’t wait to try them and top them off with a little dark chocolate. They are super simple too!

We headed off to our local store and headed to our amazing selection of California grapes, which are in prime season right now!! FUN FACT:  California-grown grapes account for more than 99% of all the grapes sold in the US! I bet you are thinking you could use some grapes right now! YUM!

Green Seedless Grapes from CaliforniaNow on with the recipe! After our purchase we gathered the necessary ingredients. All you need is several bunches of your favorite California grapes, a tub of vanilla yogurt(you can choose your favorite flavor), 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons of milk and 8 skewers.

After washing and air drying your grapes, you’ll want to skewer them leaving room for a handle. Easy, Peasy!! We chose both the red and green variety because it was too hard to choose just one kind!!

Now it’s time for some fun! Holding each skewer by the end, gently dip your grapes in the yogurt and twist them to cover completely.

After dipping each skewer, you will place them on a baking sheet coated with a little cooking spray. Parchment paper would be perfect for this step too. Place them in the freezer for 20 minutes and then repeat this step. We love our yogurt-cicles double dipped! Then leave them in the freezer for 2-3 hours to allow them to completely freeze.

Before serving the grape and yogurt-cicles , you’ll want to add several chocolate stripes to them. Place your dark chocolate chips in a microwave safe measuring cup and add the two tablespoons of milk. Heat in 30 second intervals until smooth. Using a spoon, drizzle the chocolate sparingly over the top. Place in the freezer 5 additional minutes or until the chocolate sets.

Serve and ENJOY!! I know my family can’t wait until I make them again!

My son’s face says it all!

Note* Grapes can be a choking hazard for children under three especially if frozen. Please take them off the skewer and cut them in quarters. Additionally, frozen grapes are very hard, so chew them cautiously.*

Disclosure: I received promotional items including a cookbook and gift card to facilitate this recipe as part of a campaign with the Family Review Network. I am also posting this recipe to participate in a contest to win a giftcard. All opinions are 100% mine. Thank you!
