What is the Definition of a Working Mom ?!

The definition of work is:Be engaged in physical or mental activity in order to achieve a purpose or result.

Ok, got that.

The definition of mom is: one’s female parent,  someone that gives rise to or exercises protecting care over someone else.

Yep, understand that.

So let’s put the two together.  A working mom is a female parent engaged in physical or MENTAL activity to achieve a purpose or result while protecting and caring for someone else.

Hmmm.

So what’s my point??

ALL MOMS (with the exception of very few) ARE WORKING MOMS!!

My hope is that from this moment on that either the term will fade away into native nothingness or God forbid, be used by all people for all moms.  You might ask why this push for exact definitions.  Well, I thought about it long and hard.  I took deep breaths and meditated. I walked around the block. I counted to ten.   It still bothered me.  So since this is MY blog I decided to begin the revolution  to shred it into little tiny bits of the crap it is!!

Let me ask you this?

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A WORKING DAD?

Do you see men walk into meetings and say “Hi, nice to meet you.  I’m a working DAD.”

No. Not Going to happen. Next time

Hello there (insert booming voice), I am a WORKING MOM!!

IF WE ARE MOMS, WE ARE ALL WORKING. Can’t we just all get along?

Since that is probably unlikely, how about just pondering the question to your friends.

What do you tell people you do?  How do you define yourself?  With confidence or with lack there of?  Help me out here!  What would you suggest?  Are you just fine with the terms: working moms, stay at home moms, or work at home moms?

To be honest, it probably doesn’t matter on a daily basis but it does matter when it comes to respect, equality and  evolving into the 21st century.

So thank you for listening.  It was great to get it off my mind.  Please comment and let me know your thoughts on this subject.  I am supposed to meet someone new tomorrow and don’t know what to say when they ask the inevitable question: SO WHAT DO YOU DO?

Honestly, I don’t know what the answer is. I guess, SAHM is just easy for some people to identify with. When I worked full time, I never said I was a working mom I responded with my profession. Now that I work only a few hours out of the home, I don’t know how to respond. Usually, I just joke and make something up.
You have a valid point here in the post, I never really thought about it. However, now you have me thinking……………

Stopping by from twitter. Figured, I check out the people who have me listed today. lol
